Nuts and Bolts of Sales Management How to Build a HighVelocity Sales Organization eBook John R Treace Reviews
Nuts & Bolts of Sales Management is more than Nuts & Bolts, offering insights and distinctions often missed. For example the three types of people to manage, the mindset of sales people, and how inconsistency and management mistakes can demoralize a great sales team. This book is full of clear illustrations, rich content and at the end of each chapter an easy to read review consisting of questions to make you think.
Most sales leaders were great sales people who were tossed into the world of sales management. No one ever taught them the intricacies of the role...until now. John Treace provides a step-by-step guide for sales leaders to help them build a process-driven sales organization that will perform at peak levels.

What a great read! As the title suggests, it has great, down-to-earth advice any sales executive would find useful. It's also a good primer for the non-sales executive to better understand and appreciate the sales function. While it's a fun read cover to cover, I think it should take a prominent spot on your office bookshelf as a reference tool for whenever you have a challenge or opportunity in the sales function. There are words of wisdom in here for almost any situation the sales department is likely to encounter. There's also a great section on things you should NOT do which I found very helpful. Two thumbs up.
It was a fundamental book that did not illustrate a sales process which was my primary interest. It was also written from strictly a sales perspective which had little profit/loss type discussions that complicate the sales process and options.
I own my own company and have managed about 10 broker-type salespeople for many years and recently have decided that I want to learn more about how to be a better sales manager, so have been starting to read sales management books. This one, I didn't care for. Very general stuff here. I can't imagine that anyone who's existed in any type of sales organization for more than a few weeks wouldn't have already figured this material out.. "You should have a mission statement" ... Really?
The author has a lot of sales management experience. I wish he would have shared more of his specific techniques, and less about general things that you can read in 100s of other sales books.
I own several retail stores. This book has been a great help to me as I grow my small business. John's insights and advice have provided reliable guidance as I have dealt with major growth issues.
I was taking a course in small business development and operations. Two books were assigned. When this book arrived from , I sat down to give it a glance.
A few hours later, I had completed the book. Why? It was fascinating, interesting, easy-to-read and reinforced many points I had made before a college business instructor.
The book had many real-life examples. It focused on marketing management and provided useful information. It was not too long, nor was the book only a one hour read.
I can see the book being used in marketing, management and business strategy courses. The contents fit the title very well. Strongly recommend.
